excellent album. Disappointed with Blue Rose's packaging of cd for the album/cd offer. It should be stated that cd cover wasn't available with the offer. I look forward to teh packaging and having a simple paper cd sleeve was not what I would expect from Blue Rose or from any artist

So this is Miracle3 where they left us five years ago? Not really. Resolution transforms the desert distortion from Arizona to the Big Apple. This first new 'rock' song brings us downtown New York. Right into the subway of Manhattan and doesn't leave us untill the last seconds of feedback, some five minutes later. Somehow different, somewhere the same. Steve picks up the debut album of Jesus and The Marychain and produces some of the nicest and noisiest songs of this year. Now, if 'Resolution' is only a teaser for the full album, you're in for a blasting psychedelic halloween party. 'Northern Agression could probably become Le Real Noise of this year's greatest records!

9.30.10: A Twins' Anthem by The Baseball Project

Twins

The word from Steve:

"One of the songs that we mixed last week for the next Baseball Project album is quickly becoming an anthem for the Minnesota Twins who just clinched their division yesterday. The song was co-written and sung by the Hold Steady's Craig Finn, a Twin Cities native and (along with Linda) a huge Twins fan. The record won't be out until next February but this is a chance to get a sneak preview."

Great stuff! Now how about you contact Steve Poltz and have him do a song for the Padres (he's a huge fan)? So far all we've got is "The Padres could be surprising..." Yes, they were and yes they are. And a Red Machine did rise again. The Pirates...well, not so much. But two for three out of that first verse of the first song from the project, pretty good!

9.06.10: Blurt: The Medicine Show's Heart of Darkness

Quote: "The reissue earlier this summer of the Dream Syndicate's epochal second album, 1984's Medicine Show, was greeted - justifiably - by the sort of critical hosannas typically reserved for some long-overdue artifact from Bob Dylan, Neil Young or Van Morrison. Yours truly, in fact, was wholly unrestrained with the praise, singling out Steve Wynn's character-driven lyrical narratives and the band's adventuresome arrangements and muscular playing. "The record is panoramic, massive," I wrote, "yet it's also a soul-purger in the most primal, essential sense.""

Quote: "No-hitters are back in style in a big way this season, but if a major league hitter can finally get the first Triple Crown in 43 years, it would certainly be a flashback to the 1960s.

That has inspired The Baseball Project to release the '60s pop-styled "(Do The) Triple Crown," the latest in the band's season-long Broadside Ballads series of songs that the band is giving away for free all season on ESPN.com. "

The minimalistic, folk-styled "Phenom" affectionately describes Strasburg's meteoric rise to the majors at 21 years old, just one year after being drafted. Singer and guitarist Steve Wynn, who wrote "Phenom," said he wanted to write the song from the pitcher's imagined perspective, which would be "a little wary of all of the early praise, a little fearful that the glory and the magic could fade away at any time and merely wanting to keep his head down and begin a distinguished, long career."

7.02.10: Blurt Online: Back to Medicine Show

Quote: "Listened to now, track-by-track, Medicine Show has, if anything, grown stronger since its original release. It's long been my favorite Dream Syndicate album, a fact I'm hard-pressed to pinpoint exactly why. There's a balancing act going on between the old-school rock of my youth and the punk-powered music that galvanized me as a young adult, and there's a sonic ambiance that alternately baffles and delights me; the record's like a foreign film that I don't fully comprehend but which leaves me deeply haunted for weeks after seeing it."

6.15.10: Review and history of Medicine Show

Quote:"Back in early 1984, the Dream Syndicate was one of the most promising bands of the Paisley Underground, a Los Angeles-based psychedelic-pop revival that spawned the Bangles, the Three O'Clock and the Rain Parade. The group was led by singer-songwriter Steve Wynn, who had penned a bouquet of catchy tunes for the Syndicate's 1982 debut, "The Days of Wine and Roses." By the time their second album dropped, they were with a major label and opening for the hottest act on college radio, R.E.M."

From Scott: "He was one of those players that had some success, but also really struggled a lot. It's not such an unusual story. I guess what made it unusual was his obvious love of the game, and the way I imagine he reminded those whom he played with to enjoy themselves."

9.23.10: Medicine Show Re-Release

The 2010 version of "Medicine Show" available now!

After a 20-year wait, the Dream Syndicate's 2nd album "Medicine Show" finally returns to CD and this new version is an update worthy of the wait.

The 2010 digipack version of the 1984 classic features a sparkling, powerful sound, mastered from the original tapes as well as an expanded booklet with revelatory liner notes by David Fricke never seen before photos from the archives of Laura Levine.

And if that wasn't enough, this new version includes the entire "This Is Not The New Dream Syndicate.....Live" -including the lengthy workout of "John Coltrane Stereo Blues" which didn't make the cut on the original 1991 reissue.
